Starter Pack

Sole Trader Starter Pack

£19 one-off · yours to keep

Six files written for UK sole traders, in plain English, with HMRC's categories and deadlines in mind.

  • Invoice template (Excel spreadsheet, .xlsx): an invoice you can reuse for any client, with line items, totals that handle VAT, payment terms and a box for your bank details.
  • Client contract (Word document, .docx): a plain-English services agreement. It covers the scope of the job, fees, interest on late payment, revisions and who owns the finished work.
  • Rate card and pricing worksheet (Excel workbook, .xlsx): work out a day rate from the income you're after, the time you'll actually work and the tax allowance you choose, then turn it into a rate card for clients. It doesn't calculate your tax bill.
  • Expense tracker (Excel workbook, .xlsx): log business expenses from 6 April 2026 to 5 April 2027 under categories that match HMRC's. It keeps running totals and a spending summary, which helps keep your records in order.
  • Self-assessment checklist and deadline planner (PDF, .pdf): the steps and deadlines for filing your 2025/26 return, and how to keep your 2026/27 records in order, from registering through to filing day.
  • Read me first (PDF, .pdf): a quick guide to what each file is for and what to do next.

What we need from you: nothing. Once your payment goes through, the download link is emailed to you straight away. A personal and commercial licence is included, the files are yours to keep, and updates are free.

Done for you

Done-for-you Setup

£49 one-off · back in 5 working days

All six Starter Pack files with your details already filled in, and a one-page business profile on top.

  • All six Starter Pack files, with your details put in where they're needed: the invoice template, a client contract written for your kind of work, the rate card and pricing worksheet, the expense tracker, the self-assessment checklist and the Read me first guide.
  • Client contract matched to your work: design, development, consulting or other services.
  • Rate card worked out for you: your floor rate after tax and NI, worked out with our pricing calculator, and a one-page rate card with your actual prices on it.
  • Expense tracker set up for you: the HMRC categories that apply to your work, and the layout for your bank details.
  • Self-assessment checklist personalised: your name, your business and your first filing dates.
  • Extra: a one-page business profile PDF: your services and prices, laid out so you can attach it to emails or send it to clients.

What we need from you: answers to seven short questions in the welcome email we send after you pay.

The seven questions we'll ask
  1. What kind of work do you mainly do: design, development, consulting or other services? (We write your contract to suit it.)
  2. Are you VAT-registered? If yes, please send your VAT number.
  3. Your business address and phone number for invoices and contracts.
  4. Bank details for the payment section of your invoice: bank name, sort code and account number.
  5. Do you have a logo? If so, attach it. If not, we'll set your business name in plain text.
  6. How do you like to be paid, 14 or 30 days from the invoice date? (We fill this in on the contract.)
  7. When should we start? Tell us about any deadline, for example if your first client starts soon.

Timing and changes: everything comes back within 5 working days of payment. One round of changes is included free, and we reply to those within 2 working days.

The Starter Pack is included, so it's £49 in total, not £19 plus £49.
